Special Order

The new Bryston B1-200 Cubed ‘2.0’ Integrated amplifier celebrates Bryston’s 50 th year and signals a meaningful evolution of the current platform rather than the launch of an entirely new product family.

In this case, the core identity of the Bi-200 remains intact: the design philosophy, intended customer, model position, and overall series architecture continue from the existing generation. However, the changes are substantial enough that the product should not be presented as a minor running update or silent revision.

Together, these updates make the Bryston Bi-200 Cubed ‘2.0’ a more adaptable evolution of the Bryston amplifier platform: evolutionary not revolutionary.

BALANCED DESIGN

Bryston integrated amplifiers give no ground to their separate counterparts. The new Bi-200 is literally constructed from the Bryston BP-19 Analog Preamplifier and 3B amplifier into a single chassis offering the best of both products without occupying extra space and costly interconnects. High performance and transparency is always our goal, and an integrated amplifier doesn’t have to compromise ability for convenience.

BRYSTON Bi-200 ANALOG CIRCUITS

The Bi-200 integrated amplifier is a byproduct of years of R&D that resulted in the development of an optimized discrete buffer amplifier capable of delivering a staggeringly low THD+N distortion.

The preamplifier analog signal path is a fully balanced design, using an array of very tightly matched components and a compact circuit design to achieve the lowest possible noise and superior common mode rejection. With the new balanced inputs and outputs we have been able to make significant improvements in performance in the Bi-200 Cubed ‘2.0’.

In the past, a fully balanced signal path was difficult to achieve because you would need a volume pot with 4 tapers. With the availability of these new volume control chips, this is no longer an issue. This new design allows for a lower noise floor than previous designs and is much better at common mode noise suppression.

PHONO OPTION

Most Moving-Magnet phono stages expect to receive a signal between 3-6 mV at their input from the cartridge.

The Bryston Moving Magnet stage is a 41dB @1kHz gain preamp with a very unique RIAA playback equalization circuit for moving magnet cartridges.

The RIAA Curve or equalization is a form of pre-emphasis on recording and de-emphasis on playback. A recording is made with the low frequencies reduced and the high frequencies boosted, and on playback, the opposite occurs.

Bryston’s version of the RIAA curve is a one of a kind and has been proven to be one of the most accurate available.

RIAA ONE OF A KIND

A step-up Moving-Coil transformer is designed to accept the lower voltage output from the MC cartridge and increase the voltage to a point which is acceptable to the input stage of the standard MM phono section.

The internal proprietary Bryston Moving-Coil step-up transformer in the Bi-200 preamplifier is available in two versions...with a 20dB or a 26dB gain option.

Your choice on which unit is most appropriate will be determined by the voltage output of your chosen cartridge.

  • From .1 to .2 mV we would recommend the 26dB version.
  • At .3 mV we would say either version would work fine.
  • From .4 to .5 mV or more we would recommend the 20dB version

An important point to consider when choosing which Step-up to use is you do not want to over-power or under-power the MM phono stage. Under-powering results in not having enough GAIN in the system and over-powering can result in voltage overload and the resultant distortion.

  • Moving Magnet: is a 41dB @1kHz gain preamp with RIAA playback equalization for moving magnet cartridges.
  • Moving-Coil Transformers: 20dB or 26dB inserted before the MM stage.

DEDICATED HEADPHONE AMP

The Bi-200 features Bryston’s most powerful onboard headphone amplifier ever offered, providing the high-output and critical low-output impedance to drive even inefficient headphone models.

The new Low Z headphone amp utilized in the Bi-200 delivers startling clarity and dynamic capability second only to Bryston’s legendary BHA-1 outboard headphone amplifier.

QUAD COMPLIMENTARY

This sophisticated output stage increases linearity and minimizes higher-order harmonic distortion. By improving transistor matching and reducing output capacitance fourfold, Bryston achieves better transient response and bandwidth. The harmonic structure closely resembles that of Class-A amplifiers, but with much lower overall distortion.

IINDEPENDENT POWER SUPPLIES

Each channel of the Bi-200 Cubed ‘2.0’ features its own discrete power supply and transformer - an uncommon feature at any price. This supports Bryston’s commitment to transparency and fidelity, ensuring that every system reproduces recordings accurately.

OPTIMIZED POWER DELIVERY

Bryston's on-going "first-to-last-watt" philosophy ensures outstanding performance across the entire power spectrum. From the Bi-200 Cubed ‘2.0’ to the high-powered mono models, such as the 600W 7B and 1000W 28B, deliver exceptional detail at any volume level.

SILENT PASSIVE COOLING

Instead of fans, the Bi-200 Cubed 2.0 uses large aluminum heat sinks for effective, silent cooling (no noisy fans), supporting reliable operation over the long term.
